Ulthera®

Ulthera® (also called Ultherapy®) is a safe, non-surgical treatment that lifts and tightens the jowls, forehead, upper eyelids, chin, and neck. It works through ultrasound technology that heats deep layers of the skin while leaving the top layers of skin cool and unaffected. Ulthera® also stimulates your body to produce more collagen, so the toning effects continue for months after your treatment.

At Dermatology Medical Group of San Francisco, all consultations and treatments, including Ulthera®, are done by our registered nurse under the supervision of our doctors. Our staff has been thoroughly trained in the operation of the Ulthera® device and how it works in the skin to help you look younger.

We are very particular about the treatments we offer, studying each to determine if a particular product or technique is worthy of our patients. It is important to us that we can stand by every treatment and recommend it with confidence. Then, we make sure that we receive the training required to provide excellent results. This includes follow-up training, as needed.

If you only have submental fullness under the chin (a double chin), Kybella® injections might be a better option for you. A thorough examination and detailed medical history will determine if you are a good candidate for Ulthera®.

Results begin to show in three to six months. Most people have one treatment twice per year in order to maintain the outcome.

The Ulthera® Treatment

Our registered nurse uses a handheld device on the areas to be toned. A computer screen shows the deep layers of skin as the device passes over them, which helps the doctor determine how deep to apply the ultrasound energy. This is the most precise technology available for tightening of the skin of the face.

We will apply a numbing cream prior to your treatment, which will take at least a half hour to take effect. To further avoid discomfort, please take non-prescription medication prior to your appointment. The treatment itself will take a half hour up to two hours.
